Support for Veterans at Benz Chiropractic

At Benz Chiropractic, we’re proud to care for many veterans dealing with a range of musculoskeletal concerns—including back pain, neck tension, and sciatica. While many veterans are more familiar with physiotherapy from their time in service, chiropractic care can be an equally valuable tool in recovery and long-term wellness. Understanding how to access this care through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) is the first step.

Common Injuries Among Veterans

Veterans often experience physical strain during service, leading to long-term injuries such as:

  • Lumbar (Lower Back) Injuries

  • Knee Injuries

  • Shoulder Injuries

  • Ankle and Foot Conditions

These issues can linger or worsen after service and may benefit from tailored chiropractic treatment.

Accessing Chiropractic Services Through DVA

If you're a veteran, you may be eligible for fully-funded chiropractic care under DVA. There are two primary card types:

  • White Card – Covers treatment for specific approved injuries or conditions only (e.g., lower back pain, ankle sprain, shoulder issues). It's important to note that not all conditions are covered, and there may be out-of-pocket expenses if your chiropractic care falls outside the approved conditions. Please check your card entitlements or speak with your GP to confirm coverage.

  • Gold Card – Provides comprehensive cover for a wide range of healthcare services, including chiropractic care, regardless of the condition. No out-of-pocket costs apply when referred and treated under DVA guidelines.

To begin treatment, you’ll need a referral from your GP. Most doctors are familiar with this process. DVA requires a new referral after every 12 chiropractic visits.

Choosing a DVA-Friendly Chiropractor

Not all chiropractors bill DVA directly. Some may require upfront payment and reimbursement later, which can involve additional admin and potential out-of-pocket costs.

At Benz Chiropractic, we can Direct bill the Department of Veterans' Affairs for all DVA Gold Card holders—as long as you have a current referral. We handle the invoicing directly with DVA, so you can focus on your recovery.

When searching for a clinic, check that they accept DVA patients, can bill directly, and clearly outline any paperwork or referral requirements.

What to Bring to Your First Appointment

To help us get started with your care, please bring or email the following before your appointment:

  • A current GP referral (with our clinic name if possible)

  • Your DVA White or Gold Card

  • Any relevant scan results or medical records

  • A brief history of your injury or condition

Providing this info early helps us tailor your care and make your first visit as productive as possible.
